Dry-dusting heads and escutcheons, and leaving the fusible link alone
A sprinkler head is a precise device, and the part that matters most is the fusible link. Dust and grime settle on the head and on the escutcheon, the plate where the pipe meets the ceiling, and cleaning has to lift that buildup without touching the link. That is the one rule our crew works by on every head.
The method is careful dry-dusting, head by head, following NFPA cleaning guidance. It is slow on purpose. A ceiling full of sprinklers in a warehouse or a retail atrium is a lot of heads, and each one gets the same attention as the first.
